What is the problem?
To design 10 Graphic Products
What subject/area of study are you focussing on?
Music Festivals
To what depth are you investigating in this area? Is this sufficient?
I have carried out research into UK and european festivals, the best festivals to attend, family festivals the history of how they began. I have done further research into Woodstock of '69 as it is renowned as being amazing. To further my knowledge I intend to look into charities supported by some of the festivals and how much money is raised.
What is the form and amount of your research to date?
My research takes the form of lists and festival line-up posters and am so far sitting on about 400 pieces of information.
What visual matter do you have to work with?
- 100 european festival line up posters
- Wristbands
- Modes of transport, VW vans, Caravans and old-fashioned traveller wagons.
- Designer Tents
- Screenshots of cool festival websites.
- Festival T-shirts
Is there an appropriate amount of work for the time you have had to develop it?
I have a large body of research however now I just need to get on and start designing.
If there isn't why is this? How could you improve your work rate?
I have been spending time on other projects and the deadline has just crept up on us all. To increase my work-rate I am going to put in extra hours of work outside of college hours.
What is your time-scale? When is the deadline?
There is 2 weeks left to come up with 10 designs and have everything printed and ready to present at the final critique.
What is achievable in the time available?
I am going to attempt to re-brand a festival within the 2 week's we have left. This should be achievable as all designs will be of the same style and carry the same motifs.
What methods are you using to evaluate the progress of your ideas?
The Crit will help me with this and also I shall be asking peers what they think of idea's.

Focus
What are you identifying as areas worth developing further?
The wristband design originally wasn't very fitting for the festival they are for, therefore I have edited the design slightly and now they look much better. The map design will be the most difficult of the designs but If I do it well I think it could look really good.
What are you trying to communicate?
I'm trying to communicate something different for each product but as a whole I'm trying to communicate that Knockengorroch is a cool music festival, quirky and fun. The graphics for the festival at the moment sort of give off the idea of lots of middle-ages farmers hosting a barn-dance.
What audience have you identified?
Common festival go-ers and new ones, people over the age of 18 because they can all go without being accompanied by an adult. As the festival takes pride in being a small community interest festival of about 4,000 people, I do not want to make the festival a 'sell-out.'
What further research does this require?
Find out what sort of age groups mostly attend.
Development
Have you moved on from your initial starting point. If so how and why?
Yes. In the beginning I wasn't going to re-brand a festival but design different pieces for different festivals, but it made more sense to refine this to one festival and then the same theme could be used and it could be more of an 'intimate' project.
What methods are you using to document this development?
As most of the designs I have been doing have been on illustrator I have been taking screen shots to show the process of each design.
What processes will you need to use to develop your work?
Ideally I would have screen printed my t-shirt designs however I still need an induction at the print studio. Another way of creating your own t-shirts though is Iron-transfer paper which I will probably try.
