The Final Business Cards

As I am now obsessed with bunting and also selling it, I thought perhaps a nice way to hand someone a business card would be to wrap it up in a bunting triangle (as I have loads of spares anyway).

This is just a temporary fixing but I do like the effect, however I am unsure how suitable it is.

Below is another example of a fabric wallet which I have created, which could act as a wallet for all business cards that someone is handed.

I have already printed off and finalised my designs for "Brand You" but am not particularly happy with them.  I have just been playing around with a possible new concept for my branding or more for my business card design.  This is something I will have to consider and develop over summer.  I love Ice-Cream, especially ones that come on sticks.

Possible Alternative Work Placement Idea's

As I am interested in doing things other than just graphic design, however still art based, I have been having a think of some possible places where I could perhaps do a work placement.  Whatever I choose to do I wish to use the knowledge and skills which I have learned so far on the course.

I am interested in working with young children and art, also interested in working at festivals.

Hope House Gallery

"Music and Arts Production (MAP) is a Leeds based arts organisation at Hope House that provides alternative education for young people who are having difficulty accessing mainstream education. The Hope House Gallery occasionally holds exhibitions and events, using both internal and external art."

Eden Arts 

Eden Arts is an arts development agency based in Eden in Cumbria. It programmes arts events and activities in a rural context. Eden Arts is funded to develop and deliver strategic programmes of work across the district and to encourage arts engagement and participation wherever possible.


Eden Arts is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation based in England’s biggest and most rural district, Eden in Cumbria. Eden Arts promotes, invents, dreams and cooks up all sorts of creative projects from commissions to participatory to gigs and cinema.

Eden Arts also do projects with children and community based projects, as it is close to home, I think this is a possibility throughout the summer.


Eden Festival (different from the above)

Eden is a welcoming, atmospheric, family friendly festival, located in the stunning Raehills Meadows.

The whole aim behind the festival is to provide a 3 day celebration of music, dance, colour, culture and community built on an ecologicaly sound and carbon friendly set of principles and to exhibit live music hand in hand with stunning decorations and surroundings.

I now have a place working with the Visual Arts and Deco Team at Eden Festival 2013, very happy!  I will be at the festival for a whole week helping out with creating artwork and putting it up. Exciting :) and hopefully I will get to know a few people and get into doing more artwork for more festivals!

I started out by jotting down things that I like, things that are reflected in my designs and some processes which I'd perhaps like to use if necessary.

 Business Card Designs, I want the design to be quite pattern or illustration based to reflect my personal interests and my design style.

Creative Presence // Business Card Research

A lot of Business Cards for graphic designers which I have come across so far are quite similar.  There is a lot of typography, letterpress and embossing involved.  As I feel like I have other skills to offer than graphic design, I want to translate that in my business card design.

A versatile and logical way of creating business cards is through the use of a stamp like below.  It has a cool effect and means you can apply your logo to anything.

The image on the right here has definitely influenced my idea generation the most.  The idea of a wallet means that there is more space for designing and I also thought that if you were to hand your business card to someone inside a wallet, then perhaps they'd use that wallet to store all the business cards they get handed and therefore, your business card becomes useful and is always at the top of the pile.

 

I like the simplicity of this design, and that little face is quite humorous and will stick in my mind.

 

I think this is a really great idea, perhaps more for showing examples of work than a business card, or it could work as a two in one!
